SUMMARY:Ageism For Real
DESCRIPTION:What is ageism\, and how is it impacting ministries and organizations? \n“When we create spaces for honest conversations between older adults and younger generations\, we challenge harmful stereotypes about aging and help ensure older adults feel seen\, valued\, and included rather than overlooked. These conversations strengthen communities by reminding us that every stage of life has purpose and that we all have something meaningful to learn from one another.” -Barbara Borroto \n“I believe ageism plays a misguided role when a congregation sets its hopes and dreams on calling only younger clergy\, while at the same time hang on to systems that will limit a younger pastor’s effectiveness.  I would love to see more healthy dialogue regarding wisdom\, eldership\, First and Second Half of Life dynamics within church systems.”- Rev. Dr. Paul Koch \n“For me\, addressing ageism is a matter of justice; it involves creating spaces and conditions where every generation is valued\, heard\, protected\, and able to contribute to a more compassionate and equitable world.” – Rev. Angel Luis Rivera-Agosto \nNBA’s Older Adult Ministries is hosting a new webinar\, Ageism For Real\, on Wednesday\, June 17th at 12:00pm ET/11:00am CT. An intergenerational panel will discuss what ageism is\, share experiences\, and offer ideas to help push back. \nThere is no cost to attend this virtual event\, but registration is required. \n  \n  \nModerators\nJan Aerie\, NBA Older Adult Ministries Mission Specialist\nRev. Bere Gil Soto\, NBA Director of Young Adult Leadership Development \nPanelists\nRev. Awit Marcelino: participant in the Asian/Pacific Islander (A/PI) pilot group and co-convenor for the first cohort of the A/PI Young Adult Peer Learning and Wellness Group \nBarbara Borroto: worked in psychosocial rehabilitation\, supporting older adults build healthy coping strategies\, strengthen social skills\, serves as a leader in both the women’s ministry and worship ministry \nRev. Dr. Paul Koch: Regional Minister\, Mid-America Region \nRev. Angel Luis Rivera-Agosto: NBA Community Engagement Senior Coordinator for Justice Initiatives

SUMMARY:New Fruits from Wounded Soil: Pentecost and Restorative Justice
DESCRIPTION:What does Restorative Justice mean in practice? \n“I didn’t want to hurt people anymore. That’s when I began the journey toward my healing.”\nThe “New Fruits from Wounded Soil: Pentecost and Restorative Justice” webinar will take place on Thursday\, May 14th at 12:00pm ET/11:00am CT. We welcome you to this conversation with James “Sharif” Menefield where he shares his journey of transformation through restorative justice\, grounded in lived experience\, accountability\, and hope. After decades of incarceration\, Sharif discovered that healing is possible even in the most wounded places. \n“My life story is a testament to the grace and mercy of God.”\nDrawing on the imagery of Pentecost—new life emerging from wounded soil—this conversation invites us to see restorative justice as a practice in which healing\, responsibility\, and dignity take root. \n“Now that I’m free\, I am determined to continue living out the principles of restorative justice.”\nJoin us for a powerful reflection on how justice can bear new fruit when restoration\, compassion\, and courage guide our response to harm. \nThere is no cost to attend this virtual event but registration is required. \nModerator\n \nRev. Angel Luis Rivera-Agosto\, NBA´s Community Engagement Senior Coordinator for Justice Initiatives \nSpeakers\n \nRev. Nora Jacob\, NBA’s Restorative Justice Consultant \n \nJames “Sharif” Menefield

SUMMARY:Traveling the Road of Grief and Loss
DESCRIPTION:“As we age\, it seems the losses come one after another after another compounding our grief. Perhaps\, in community\, we can name these losses and find ways to navigate grief’s unpredictable waters in ways that can still make room for peace.” -Rev. Kimberly Weir\, Chaplain \n“I am increasingly convinced that grief\, as is aging\, is traumatic. It’s not an immediate trauma\, with a recovery time in sight\, but a long-term trauma journey. Our response\, as caregivers\, can be one of  long-term compassion and support.” -Rev. David Hargrave\, Chaplain \nThere are many types of loss and grief in our lives\, and when grief is unresolved it can damage our health and psyche. Join us for this webinar and hear from three experienced guides on what they have learned and how others may benefit from support and resources. Learn from your own losses and share what you know. You will come away with proven examples of programs and practices. \n\n\nThe free virtual webinar will take place at 12:00pm ET/11:00am CT. SUMMARY:From Montgomery to Minneapolis: Organizing in Times of Disruption
DESCRIPTION:In moments of disruption\, communities often rise with renewed purpose—choosing to block harm\, bridge across differences\, and build something better together. Seventy years ago\, the Montgomery Bus Boycott showed how everyday people\, united in dignity and determination\, could stop an unjust system in its tracks and forge powerful bonds of solidarity that carried a movement forward. \nIn Minneapolis\, amid ongoing struggles over immigration enforcement\, communities are showing how solidarity endures in real time—sharing information\, standing with vulnerable neighbors\, and refusing to let fear isolate those most affected. Through acts of courage and care\, they create hope across communities and develop new forms of collective protection. \nThis webinar invites you to draw inspiration from these stories—past and present—to discover how courage\, connection\, and shared resolve can guide us through collective organizing amid the uncertainties of our time.  The Disciples Justice Ministries Group awaits you on this celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott\, its legacy\, and how communities are organizing hope today. \nThis free virtual event will take place on Thursday\, March 26th at 7:30pm ET/6:30pm CT. \n  \nSpeakers \nRev. Angel Luis Rivera-Agosto\, NBA´s Community Engagement Senior Coordinator for Justice Initiatives\nRev. Dr. Laurie Pound Feille\, Disciples Public Presence\nRev. SUMMARY:The Language We Use in Faith Spaces: Naming Addiction\, Recovery\, and Healing
