SUMMARY:NBA's Research and Design: Young Adults with Disabilities Survey
DESCRIPTION:NBA’s Young Adult Leadership Development program area is undertaking a Research & Design initiative to better understand the presence and experiences of people living with disabilities within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Currently\, our denomination does not have comprehensive data that helps us understand how many people live with disabilities\, the diversity of those experiences\, or how disability intersects with age\, vocation\, geography\, and participation in church life. \nThis survey is an initial step toward addressing that gap. Our goal is to listen\, learn\, and gather information that can guide future discernment and the design of more accessible\, inclusive\, and meaningful opportunities—particularly for young adults. Your participation is voluntary and anonymous. Responses will be reviewed and used to help us understand who is present in our denomination and what kinds of barriers or supports exist. \nWe are grateful for your time and your willingness to share\, as your voice helps shape how we move forward together. \nTake the Survey \n  \nChurch Announcement Resources\n\nChurch Announcement Scripts\n\nChurch Event Script (English)\nChurch Event Script (Spanish)\nChurch Event Script (Korean)\n\n\nSlides to Accompany Church Announcement Scripts\n\nSlides (English only)\n\n\nChurch Announcement Overview Video\n\nVideo (English only)

SUMMARY:Ageism For Real
DESCRIPTION:What is ageism\, and how is it impacting ministries and organizations? \n“When we create spaces for honest conversations between older adults and younger generations\, we challenge harmful stereotypes about aging and help ensure older adults feel seen\, valued\, and included rather than overlooked. These conversations strengthen communities by reminding us that every stage of life has purpose and that we all have something meaningful to learn from one another.” -Barbara Borroto \n“I believe ageism plays a misguided role when a congregation sets its hopes and dreams on calling only younger clergy\, while at the same time hang on to systems that will limit a younger pastor’s effectiveness.  I would love to see more healthy dialogue regarding wisdom\, eldership\, First and Second Half of Life dynamics within church systems.”- Rev. Dr. Paul Koch \n“For me\, addressing ageism is a matter of justice; it involves creating spaces and conditions where every generation is valued\, heard\, protected\, and able to contribute to a more compassionate and equitable world.” – Rev. Angel Luis Rivera-Agosto \nNBA’s Older Adult Ministries is hosting a new webinar\, Ageism For Real\, on Wednesday\, June 17th at 12:00pm ET/11:00am CT. An intergenerational panel will discuss what ageism is\, share experiences\, and offer ideas to help push back. \nThere is no cost to attend this virtual event\, but registration is required. \nRegister Here \n  \nModerators\nJan Aerie\, NBA Older Adult Ministries Mission Specialist\nRev. Bere Gil Soto\, NBA Director of Young Adult Leadership Development \nPanelists\nRev. SUMMARY:Peer Learning & Wellness Groups 10th Anniversary In‑Person Gathering
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the National Benevolent Association’s 10th Anniversary of Peer Learning & Wellness Groups\, we are opening space for a 10-Year Peer Learning & Wellness Group (PLWG) in-person Alumni Reunion\, September 14–17\, 2026\, at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Arizona. \nThis gathering brings together alumni across ten years of Peer Learning & Wellness Groups. For many of us\, these groups have been places of honesty\, growth\, care\, and shared wisdom. During our time together\, we hope to create room for reflection\, reconnection\, and conversation—honoring the relationships and practices that have shaped this community and listening together for what the next chapter may be calling forth for the Peer Learning and Wellness Groups program. \nPlease note that availability space for the in‑person gathering is limited. Participation will be offered with the intention of ensuring representation from as many peer groups and program years as possible. For this reason\, registrations will be reviewed with attention to cohort and group balance. \nThank you for being part of the NBA Peer Learning & Wellness Groups community and for the many ways you have shaped its life and impact over the years. We look forward to the chance to be together in person again—to reconnect\, reflect\, and mark this shared milestone. \nRegistration is now closed for this event.\n  \nTravel & Lodging Support\nNBA will provide lodging and cover all onsite\, event-related expenses\, including meals during the gathering. Participants will cover their own travel expenses to and from the Franciscan Center. We recognize that travel costs can be a challenge for some alumni. To support participation\, a limited amount of financial assistance is available\, and we invite anyone with travel cost concerns to share them during registration. \nSelection \nThere is limited availability on registration spaces. In the interest of equity\, attention will be given to broad representation across peer groups and program years. We encourage interested alumni to register as soon as registration opens. Additional details—including travel information\, lodging\, and the full event schedule—will be shared with confirmed participants. \nTravel & Lodging FAQ\n What expenses does the NBA cover?\nThe National Benevolent Association will provide lodging and cover all onsite\, event related expenses\, including meals during the gathering at the Franciscan Center. \nWho covers travel expenses?\nParticipants are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel to and from the Franciscan Center. \nIs financial assistance available for travel?\nYes. A limited amount of funding is available to support travel costs for participants who may need assistance. These funds will be distributed based on demonstrated need and availability. \nHow do I request travel assistance?\nYou will have the opportunity to share any travel support needs during the registration process. We encourage anyone for whom travel costs may be a barrier to let us know—we want to make participation as accessible as possible. \n
