Saguaro Christian Church

As a collective impact, the Sol Food Initiative will eliminate food insecurity among low-income seniors living within the food deserts of East Tucson. Saguaro Christian Church will leverage their programming around their community kitchen to transform an existing feeding program in order to overcome common food access and mental health challenges.

The Sol Food Initiative is run by Saguaro Christian Church and Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s Caridad Community Kitchen; it will begin the summer of 2019 as a biweekly seven-hour initiative, seeking to eliminate food insecurity and promote food sovereignty. The program is three months onsite and enrollment in community-supported agriculture for six months.
