A Small Hand

Edinburg, VA

A Small Hand is a specialist pantry serving the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community.  All of our clients are enrolled in government supplemental feeding programs (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)/Food Stamps or Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)).  These programs were never designed to provide a full month of nutrition and they do not cover non-food essentials such as diapers, feeding bottles, pacifiers, hygiene essentials.  These are the gaps that A Small Hand fills.

We are an all-volunteer agency, and pride ourselves on our cost-effectiveness, professionalism and transparency.  Our website provides a clear picture of our service, finances, and needs. Inadequate nutrition and hygiene in the first years of life - even of short duration - can undermine children's current and future health, and their later education and social performance.  Our overarching goal is that our children will reach their full developmental potential untrammeled by the effects of suboptimal nutrition and hygiene. We provide families with the essentials to place a child in  Day Care so that they can take advantage of opportunities for additional work, education and training. Such basic items can spell difference between 'stagnation' and 'economic progress'. Learn more about A Small Hand!
