Mary Taylor is an NBA XPLOR Alum who served in Hiram-Mantua, Ohio and Charlotte, North Carolina. She shares this Advent message and prayer with you:

Sometimes, life is monotonous. It can fall into a never-ending cycle of phone calls, emails, and to do lists. This year I've been blessed to know that when life feels like that, it's okay to leave that behind. I can take a walk to the park with a neighbor, or go for a hike. I can just be with the chickens in the garden. Whatever happens, I know that the community will help refresh me for the work ahead. As we continue through Advent, may you too be refreshed from knowing that after you find refreshment, the work will not feel as monotonous.

NBA XPLOR is a 10-month service residency opportunity for young adults ages 21-30, with the purpose of empowering young adults to discern and develop a “heart for care” as they live together in simple community, engage in direct service and justice work, engage in leadership development, and discern their vocational calls to honor the various communities they are called to serve.
