I'm Still Here Dementia Training and Certification

Juliette Fowler Communities staff and leadership will undertake transformational dementia training and certification through the internationally recognized Hearthstone Institute. Through environmental adaptions, communication techniques, extensive training, and life enrichment curriculum, the “I’m Still Here” (ISH) program will create an unprecedented level of engagement for those living with dementia. To achieve certification, Fowler staff and leadership will participate in year-long rigorous training which includes extensive disease education, communication techniques and life enrichment which focuses on learning and creativity.

Juliette Fowler Communities has researched best practices for dementia care for several years. They have achieved the highest quality of clinical care and are certified through the state of Texas as an Alzheimer’s care facility. ISH will expand on the quality care that is already provided at Fowler. No other care environment in Dallas utilizes this approach.

Expanded Dementia Care Training

In 2018, NBA funded Juliette Fowler’s I’m Still Here Dementia Training and Certification program. Through that grant, the organization was able to successfully achieve certification as a Center for Excellence in dementia care. Still, the need for dementia care and services is growing. This grant will expand the current “I’m Still Here” dementia training and certification program to assist in the full integration of the program throughout all levels of living and to help church partners create dementia-friendly environments to expand their ministry.

Services for At-Risk Youth

According to the National Foster Youth Institute, 60 percent of all child sex trafficking victims have a history in the child welfare system. In response, Juliette Fowler Communities provide services and support through the Youth Support Center (YSC) and The Ebby House. The objectives of the YSC are to provide one location for all social services necessary to meet the need for intensive prevention, support, and recovery services for at-risk children/youth, including those rescued from sex trafficking. The objective of The Ebby House is to change the life trajectory of young women aging out of foster care.
