Oklahoma Family Empowerment Center, a related organization of In the Spirit Christian Church, is a not-for-profit agency that seeks to provide resources and assistance to individuals and their families that will empower them to live a successful and purposeful life.

In an effort to reduce the disparity of minority contact with law enforcement, Oklahoma Family Empowerment Center has entered into an agreement with the City of Tulsa and partnered with various state, local, and community agencies to implement the Tulsa County Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Community and Strategic Planning Demonstration Project through a grant funded by the Office of Juvenile Affairs.

COVID Connections, Compassion and Care for Seniors

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us in a myriad of ways. This virus does not discriminate, however, we know that it has disproportionately affected racial and ethnic minority groups and the senior adult population the most.

Oklahoma Family Empowerment Center will serve 30 seniors during this pandemic and beyond by providing Connections (tablet and wi-fi access), Compassion (Circles of Compassion), weekly Covenant Groups (group counseling and support groups), and Care (monthly care packages mailed to each participant).

Mission Area: Older Adult Ministries

Grant Amount: $7,000
