Why did you say yes to serving on the NBA Board of Trustees?
My family has a long connection with the NBA, as my sister received an NBA Leadership Scholars grant while she was studying at TCU. In a way, this is my family continuing to give back. While I took a step back from the church in recent years, the opportunity to serve on the NBA Board of Trustees felt like the ideal way to re-engage in a meaningful way. The many programs focused on entrepreneurship, leadership development, and community engagement support a society I want to see flourish and for which I wish all would advocate.
NBA’s vision statement is “Creating Communities of Compassion and Care.” What does that mean to you?
It’s showing up for communities on their level and without judgment to help nurture, grow, and empower.
