YASS Survival Guide Zine
November 7, 2025 | by NBA Cares
The Young Adults in Social Services Peer Learning & Wellness Group is a 24-month hybrid group for Young Adults who were involved in various forms of social services. Together, the members of this group built a community of support and leadership development centered on identity, vocation and discernment, leadership, and community transformation. We came from different backgrounds (geographically, theologically, culturally), and viewed these differences not as barriers but as resources that enriched our understanding and connection. So that, every time we gathered online or in person, we felt safe to share, learn, grow, and dream together.
Working in fields like social services can take a toll on the soul, mind, and body–we definitely know about that! Our hope is that the resources, activities, and reflections we share in this Zine can be helpful to you or anyone else you know.
With care,
Brenda Juarez, Breona Hawkins, Chrys Beckley, Grace Dearhamer, Leah Duff, Najara Varela, and Teila Creekmore
