Where the Crickets Sing: Tools for Prison and Jail Ministries
September 3, 2026 | by NBA Cares
What does meaningful prison and jail ministry look like today? How can congregations, ministry leaders, and justice advocates support hope, healing, restoration, and second chances?
As part of of their capstone project, members of NBA’s Prison & Jail Ministries Peer Learning and Wellness Group hosted a special webinar featuring practical tools, restorative justice insights, and real-world experiences from those engaged in ministry alongside incarcerated individuals, their families, and their communities. The group shared resources for congregations, prison outreach programs, restorative justice practices, family support ministries, pen-pal initiatives, devotional and preaching materials, and recommended books, films, and educational tools. They also shared stories and lessons learned from ministry practitioners working in diverse settings across the country.
Whether you are a pastor, chaplain, volunteer, community leader, or someone exploring ways to engage in this ministry, youāll leave with practical resources, new ideas, and renewed inspiration.
Because every person is more than their worst mistake, and every community can play a role in restoration.
