NBA Offers Events to Help Navigate Grief During the Holiday Season

The holidays are often associated with feelings of joy, excitement, celebration, and gratitude. However, for individuals who are in a season of grieving, it can be an entirely different experience altogether. To help those who find themselves in this space of grief, NBA is offering some events to steer through this difficult time.

On Wednesday, December 3rd, NBA’s collaborative partner Older Adult Ministries is hosting the webinar “Navigating the Holiday Season with More Hope, Peace, Love, and JOY!” For those experiencing grief, sadness can sometimes overtake the joy of the holidays, so much so that they are often just going through the motions and forgetting the reason they are preparing for the season.
Rev. Lina Eddy, the guide for the Silver Chalice Ministry and a transitional interim pastor in Missouri, and Rev. Brett Winters, pastor of Sun City Christian Church in Sun City, Arizona, will share ways to honor the sadness and loneliness, and find ways to rekindle feelings of love, peace, hope and joy. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd at 12:00pm ET/11:00am CT. Register to be part of this event here.

Additionally, NBA’s Mental Health and Wellness Program is hosting not one, but two events on Tuesday, December 16th for those navigating grief during the holiday season. The evening begins with the inaugural Blue Christmas Service at 6:30pm ET/5:30pm CT. This 40-minute service will offer intentional space and facilitation to honor the complexity of loss for those navigating grief during the holiday season, while also holding space for healing and hope. This event will feature guest facilitators, Rev. Dr. Rae Karim, a certified grief coach and founder of Good Grief Now!, and licensed mental health clinician and counselor Rev. Lee Ivey, III, LMHCA. Sign up to attend our Blue Service here.

Then, at 7:30pm ET/6:30pm CT, our annual Holiday SoulCare livestream event will be held, where NBA’s Mental Health & Wellness team and special guests share a moment to pause, process, and care for ourselves during the holiday season. Whether watching yourself, or with a ‘watch party’ with your family, Bible study group, or congregation, enjoy an evening of SoulCare focused on wellness practices and fun for the holiday season. And, the first 10 registrants who sign up for the Holiday SoulCare webinar will receive a special gift! Register to attend the Holiday SoulCare event today by clicking here.
