NBA to Host, Participate in 2025 General Assembly Events

The 2025 Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) General Assembly is taking place July 12-15 in Memphis, Tennessee, and NBA will once again be onsite and taking part in several activities throughout the four-day event!
On Saturday, July 12th, NBA will host a buffet-style luncheon where we will share stories from partners and feature highlights from across our program areas. On Sunday, join us for a special Wellness Hour for Mind, Body, and Spirit, where mental health professionals will lead us in activities of wellness. We will also celebrate Dr. Mark Poindexter and his completed ultramarathon race to benefit NBA’s mental health and wellness programs. NBA is also hosting four workshops, an exhibit booth that will feature eightteen partner organizations, and our own Rev. April Lewton will be co-preaching during the Sunday evening worship service!
NBA staff and partners will also be leading and participating in four webinars. On Monday, NBA Operations and Grants Management Coordinator Kara Whitehouse will lead a workshop on writing compelling grant proposals, and NBA Community Engagement Senior Coordinator Justice Initiatives Rev. Angel Luis Rivera-Agosto will be part of the Disciples Justice Ministries webinar discussing intersectional approaches to justice work through variety of activities, small group conversations, and embodied prayer practices.
During the Tuesday workshop sessions NBA Director of Mental Health and Wellness Rev. Joselyn Spence and members of the Mental Health Equity Cohort will host a workshop about interactive experiences of self and communal care, based on a new toolkit the cohort will be introducing at the event. Additionally, members of the Older Adult Ministry Innovative Conversations Group will talk about the Silver Chalice Ministry initiative and the resolution that will be voted on during GA.
Finally, NBA will have a booth in the exhibit hall, where we will be highlighting each of NBA’s program areas through special events held throughout the four-day event. We will also be sharing our space with 18 Disciples Health & Social Service Ministry partners, so attendees can have the chance to get to know them and learn more about the services they offer in their communities.
