Stewardship and Sustainability: Strengthening NBA Fundraising
March 5, 2026 | by NBA Cares

In faith communities, the act of stewardship is part of our spiritual practices. When we give to others, we imitate God’s generosity (Ephesians 5:1-2).1 This faithful practice of generosity, we hope, is seen and experienced in our vision, mission, and core values. We seek to equip and support. We aim for accessibility and equity. We nurture trust, long term connections, and meaningful collaboration. Our audacious hope is a world of thriving communities where justice and care ensure the well-being of all humanity.
In that spirit of generosity, fundraising is connected to our vision and mission. Through NBA’s fundraising, we invite people into this equity-centered work—how we steward trust, build long-term relationships, and ensure that the communities and leaders we accompany today will continue to be supported tomorrow.
As NBA looks toward the future, this understanding is shaping how we invest in our people and our systems. We are pleased to share with you an introduction to new members of our NBA Development and Marketing Team.
Development at NBA: More Than Fundraising
NBA’s approach to stewardship and fundraising is grounded in relationships, emphasizing long-term connections, transparency, and accountability. These commitments are integral even in the selection of leaders, who guide NBA’s development efforts.

We are so pleased to welcome Paige Bobbitt as NBA’s Director of Development. Paige brings a relationship-centered approach shaped by her experience building development programs that unite staff, boards, and supporters around a shared purpose. Her background spans both communications and fundraising, reflecting a belief that storytelling, stewardship, and strategy belong together.
Paige’s connection to NBA’s mission is also personal. As a former NBA XPLOR participant, she experienced firsthand the power of accompaniment and justice-focused ministry. That perspective continues to inform how she approaches development—not as extraction, but as invitation.
“Relationship-centered development starts with listening. It’s about creating space for people to connect their generosity to work that reflects their deepest commitments. For me, that shapes how I approach fundraising, honoring the trust people offer and walking alongside them as they support work they truly believe in.” -Paige Bobbitt
In her role, Paige focuses on strengthening development systems, nurturing donor and congregational relationships, and helping translate NBA’s work into clear, compelling opportunities for shared investment.

We are also excited to welcome Rev. Nathan Day Wilson as Associate Vice President of Strategic Development, a new position to NBA created to emphasize the importance of our development work and to cultivate intentional relationships across and within ecumenical communities. Nathan brings extensive experience in fundraising leadership across faith-based and justice-oriented churches, nonprofits, and global non-governmental organizations. His work has consistently centered collaboration, authentic connection, and long-term vision—qualities essential to sustainable, values-aligned development. Nathan’s role will also offer foundational leadership in expanding NBA’s major gifts program, special campaigns, and cultivation with new foundations and granting opportunities.
“My job isn’t just to get money. It’s much more exciting: I invite people to live in to their better selves, in part by investing in what they care about. I try to align resources with purpose, people with mission, and generosity with impact. Healthy organizations, like NBA, get this. They know that fundraising is ministry and as such calls us to articulate a vision, invite participation, and cultivate relationships rooted in trust.” -Rev. Nathan Day Wilson
Looking Ahead: Inviting Partnership, Building Trust
“When I think about how I became involved with the NBA, it was at the invitation of some impressive and faithful leaders in our Disciples Church,” reflects Rev. April Lewton, NBA’s Vice President of Development and Marketing. “In both Paige and Nathan, I experience this same generous spirit of invitation and commitment to authentic relationship. Their years of experience in faith communities and the nonprofit world make them skilled fundraisers, yet at their core, they also are deeply committed to understanding and connecting with people; to know people’s stories, to hear their hopes and intentions, and creating pathways for generosity to be shared. I am excited and humbled to welcome Paige and Nathan to our NBA Development and Marketing team!”
Together, these roles reflect a broader commitment at NBA: to approach fundraising not as a necessity to be managed, but as a shared practice of care, accountability, and hope. Strengthening NBA’s development efforts allows us to better accompany supporters, steward resources responsibly, and sustain the work entrusted to us.
“The expanded development and marketing team allows NBA to strengthen our community engagement, hasten and deepen our commitment to innovation, to helping partners navigate challenges and achieve goals, and to continue to positively impact this world God so loves.” offers Rev. Wilson.
As we look ahead, we remain grateful for the active supporters who make this work possible and for the prayers, engagement, and involvement of many who share in the vision of the well-being of all humanity. You can contact Nathan or Paige, or donate now to join us in our mission!
