Getting to know AleQ
Why do you feel “called to care” about Disciples health and social service ministry?
My whole life I’ve felt called to help and support others. I believe it’s one of the most important parts of being a human on this earth. When I was a little boy, I wanted to be a missionary, and though life had different plans, when I found myself rethinking my career trajectory after over a decade in the corporate retail space, I knew I wanted to take my skills in communications and marketing and align them with my passion to serve.
Who is a hero of yours, and why?
My wife, Kaitlyn is my hero. So much of my life I owe to her. I met her when I was 19 and, in many ways, lost and broken; her love, kindness, grace, support and belief have been a driving force in my healing journey and continue to shape me into the man I am today. I don’t know where I’d be without her and don’t want to know. I often joke if you like me or something about me, thank my wife.
If I tried to find you in a supermarket, what aisle would you be in?
If you find me in the grocery store it’s likely a midweek supplementary grocery trip to grab an ingredient we forgot or needed for an ad hoc dinner. I’d likely be in the dairy section grabbing Oatmilk for lattes or more eggs since my son loves them. That or pasta, my favorite thing to cook!
