As changes connected to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) continue to affect healthcare, nutrition, Medicaid, SNAP, and safety-net programs, communities are facing new challenges in understanding what is changing, when those changes take effect, and how to respond. This virtual webinar will bring together faith-based human service leaders to discuss the current landscape, anticipated impacts, state-level implementation concerns, and practical approaches for education, advocacy, storytelling, and coalition-building. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the issues at stake and concrete ways agencies, congregations, and community partners can help people prepare, stay connected to support, and advocate for greater equity and care.

Angel Luis Rivera Agosto — NBA’s Community Engagement Senior Coordinator for Justice Initiatives, where he advances faith-rooted organizing, leadership development, and community engagement for justice. With 30 years of missional, ecumenical, pastoral, and global church experience, he supports nonprofit partners, faith communities, and justice leaders through training, coaching, storytelling, and campaign development.

Sue Pechilio Polis — Vice President of Public Relations and Government Affairs at Lutheran Services in America, with experience in health policy, social determinants of health, housing, mental health, substance use, data for well-being, and advocacy for older adults and vulnerable communities.

Jonathan Schrag — Vice President, Public Policy and Advocacy at The Network, where he leads federal advocacy and policy efforts on behalf of its 130+ U.S. member agencies and the communities they serve. His experience includes healthcare safety-net policy, older adult services, mental and behavioral health, long-term care, and federal government affairs.
