Silver Chalice Congregations and Older Adult Ministries Update

Wonderful work is happening through our Older Adult Ministries team! The Silver Chalice Ministry celebrates its one-year anniversary with the recognition of eight congregations who piloted the Silver Chalice process, thereby earning the designation of “Silver Chalice Congregation.”

Silver Chalice Pilot Congregations:

• Affton Christian Church, St. Louis, MO
• Community Christian Church, Kansas City, MO
• First Christian Church, Jacksonville, FL
• First Christian Church, Republic, MO
• First Christian Church, Frankford, MO
• Park Hill Christian Church, Kansas City, MO
• Redtop Christian Church, Hallsville, MO
• Riverside Avenue Christian Church, Jacksonville, FL

Each of these churches now has a Silver Chalice team and an Older Adult Ministries Guide to support the new programs and ministries that each community provides for seniors. From meal sharing to free clothing alterations, the Older Adult Ministries team is grateful for the learning and excitement generated from these Silver Chalice congregations!

There are nine additional congregations who are currently in process of earning their Silver Chalice designation.

In anticipation of the upcoming General Assembly, the Silver Chalice Ministry received confirmation that the resolution titled, “Concerning Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Congregations Receiving a Silver Chalice Designation,” will be brought forward for assembly vote. We are excited for the entire denomination to recognize and advocate with Silver Chalice congregations!
