Theater T.A.L. and Harmony Grows are two nonprofit organizations meeting key needs in their communities: uniting people of all ages and backgrounds through the performing arts and tackling food insecurity through education, sustainable agriculture, and collaboration, respectively. The National Benevolent Association is excited to welcome these two organizations as the newest members of NBA’s Social Entrepreneurship Incubate Partners initiative.
Theater T.A.L. (True Actor’s League)

Theater T.A.L. is a non-profit organization based in the Los Angeles area dedicated to fostering multiracial and multigenerational understanding through the performing arts. Founded by 2024 SENT Cohort member Rev. Young Lan Kim, Theater T.A.L. empowers artists to create innovative cultural expressions rooted in their unique heritage and experiences. Through educational programs and creative opportunities, they aim to build vibrant, harmonious, and inclusive communities enriched by the performing arts.

“The arts have long been a catalyst for social impact, creating spaces where stories foster understanding across generations and cultures,” said Rev. Darnell Fennell, NBA’s Director of Social Entrepreneurship. “Theater T.A.L. is cultivating community through creativity, helping people see one another more fully while inspiring healthier, more connected communities.”
Harmony Grows, Inc.

Harmony Grows seeks to reduce food insecurity in and around Uniontown, OH through small-scale, sustainable agriculture. 2022 SENT Cohort member Kristy Doering is the Executive Director of the organization, who operates under the belief that everyone deserves access to local, nutritious, and responsibly grown produce. By creating and engaging in an alternative food system centered around local production, they seek to empower their community while protecting and nurturing their place on the land.

“Addressing food insecurity requires both compassion and innovation,” remarks Rev. Fennell. “Harmony Grows is cultivating more than food — they are nurturing community resilience, environmental stewardship, and sustainable pathways for long-term access to nutritious, locally grown produce.”
Incubate Partners are Disciples-related health and social service organizations that have entered a partnership with the NBA through a Memorandum of Understanding. They receive up to four years of access to professional consultants, opportunities for learning, peer support, and grant funding. Theater T.A.L. and Harmony Grows joins seven other organizations participating in the Incubate Partners initiative spanning focuses such as mental health and wellness, education and resources, support and community building.
